Terms of Service

Welcome to Selebox. By accessing or using the Selebox mobile application, the website at selebox.com, or any related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Service is operated by TOS WEB PUBLISHING ("Selebox", "we", "our", or "us"), a business registered in the Republic of the Philippines.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, signing in, downloading our mobile application, accessing our website, or using any feature of the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, which are incorporated by reference.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this minimum age. If we discover that a user is under 16, we may suspend or terminate the account and delete associated data without notice.

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you warrant that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

3. License to Use

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Selebox grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial purposes. This license does not permit you to:

  • Resell, rent, or sublicense access to the Service;
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, except as permitted by applicable law;
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access or extract content without our prior written consent;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or its infrastructure.

4. Account Registration

Most features require you to create an account. By registering, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information;
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your sign-in credentials;
  • Promptly notify us at support@selebox.com of any unauthorized use of your account or any security breach;
  • Be solely responsible for all activity under your account.

You may use Google sign-in, anonymous guest access, or other supported methods. Guest accounts have limited features and may be permanently lost if you sign out without converting them to a permanent account.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Violate any applicable Philippine or international law or regulation;
  • Post, upload, or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, threatening, harassing, sexually explicit involving minors, or otherwise harmful;
  • Upload content that infringes on the intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights of others;
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation;
  • Distribute spam, malware, or unsolicited advertising;
  • Circumvent or attempt to bypass content-locking mechanisms (e.g. attempting to access locked chapters or videos without paying the required Coins or Stars);
  • Use the Service for any unauthorized commercial activity, including but not limited to selling Coins or Stars to third parties, transferring account access for value, or soliciting users away from the platform.

6. Coins, Stars, and In-App Purchases

6.1 Two virtual currencies

The Service uses two virtual currencies:

  • Coins — purchased with real money via our payment provider (currently HitPay). Coins can be spent to unlock premium chapters, videos, and other paid content.
  • Stars — earned by watching short rewarded advertisements within the Selebox mobile application, subject to a daily limit set in-app. Stars cannot be purchased and can be spent on the same content as Coins.

6.2 Purchase terms

  • Coin purchases are processed by HitPay or another authorized payment provider. By purchasing, you agree to that provider's terms and authorize the charge to your selected payment method.
  • Coin pricing and pack contents are displayed at the time of purchase and may change over time. The price shown at checkout is the binding price.
  • Coins and Stars credit to your account immediately upon successful payment confirmation (or, for Stars, on ad completion).
  • All purchases are subject to our Refund Policy.

6.3 No real-world value, no transferability

Coins and Stars are virtual items with no monetary value outside the Service. You do not own them in the legal sense; you hold a limited, revocable license to use them within the Service. Coins and Stars cannot be transferred between accounts, exchanged for cash, or traded on third-party platforms. Any attempt to do so may result in account suspension and forfeiture.

6.4 Forfeiture on termination

If your account is terminated for violation of these Terms, any unused Coins and Stars are forfeited. Termination for non-violation reasons (e.g. voluntary deletion) does not entitle you to a refund of unused Coins.

7. Authors and Content Creators

If you upload books, chapters, videos, or other long-form content as an Author or Creator:

  • You retain all ownership rights in your original content;
  • You grant Selebox a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and stream your content to other users for the duration that you keep the content on the platform;
  • You are solely responsible for ensuring you have all necessary rights, including third-party rights, to upload and share your content;
  • You may set unlock prices for your content within the limits and tools we provide. You acknowledge that pricing decisions affect your audience and may be reviewed by us for fairness;
  • Author monetization (cash payouts of Coins earned from readers) is not yet available. Coins spent by readers to unlock content do not currently credit Authors as withdrawable balance. We will notify Authors and update these Terms when payout terms are introduced.

8. User-Generated Content

By uploading or sharing any content on Selebox (including but not limited to posts, videos, books, chapters, comments, profile information, and direct messages), you:

  • Grant Selebox a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, reproduce, modify (for technical purposes such as transcoding or thumbnailing), and distribute your content within the Service;
  • Warrant that you own or have all necessary rights to the content you share;
  • Agree not to upload content that violates law or infringes the rights of others.

Selebox does not claim ownership of user-generated content. The license you grant survives until you delete the content, your account is terminated, or until we are no longer required to retain the content under applicable law (whichever is latest).

9. Copyright and Takedown

Selebox respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users to do the same. We comply with the Philippine Intellectual Property Code (Republic Act No. 8293, as amended) and analogous frameworks in other jurisdictions where we operate.

9.1 Reporting infringement

If you believe your copyrighted work has been used on Selebox without authorization, please send a written notice to copyright@selebox.com containing:

  1. Your contact information (full name, email address, postal address) and physical or electronic signature;
  2. A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
  3. The URL or specific location on Selebox of the allegedly infringing material;
  4. A statement of good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
  5. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf.

We will review valid notices and act on them within a reasonable time, typically within 7 business days.

9.2 Counter-notification

If your content is removed under a copyright claim and you believe the removal was in error, you may submit a counter-notification to the same address with similar information. We will forward valid counter-notifications to the original complainant.

9.3 Repeat infringers

We may, in appropriate circumstances and at our sole discretion, suspend or terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe the copyrights of others.

10. Moderation and Appeals

We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe to be harmful to other users, the Service, or third parties.

If your content is removed or your account is suspended, you may request review by emailing support@selebox.com within 14 days of the action. Include your account email and a description of the action you wish to appeal. Decisions after review are final.

11. Privacy and Data

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and safeguard your information. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described there.

12. Proprietary Rights

All elements of the Service that are not user-generated content — including but not limited to software code, designs, layouts, trademarks, service marks, logos, and the "Selebox" name — are the property of Selebox or its licensors and are protected by Philippine and international intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of these elements without our prior written consent.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account or access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these Terms, fraudulent activity, threats to platform safety, or extended inactivity.

You may terminate your account at any time by using the in-app account deletion feature or by emailing support@selebox.com. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except as provided in our Refund Policy.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including but not limited to Sections 8, 12, 14, 16, and 19) will survive.

14. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event shall Selebox, its officers, employees, affiliates, or licensors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the greater of: (a) the total amount you have paid to Selebox in the twelve months preceding the claim; or (b) one thousand Philippine pesos (₱1,000.00).

15. Force Majeure

Selebox is not liable for any failure or delay in performance due to causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to internet or telecommunications outages, payment provider downtime, government action, natural disasters, war, civil unrest, labor disputes, or pandemic-related disruptions.

16. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service that cannot be resolved through good-faith negotiation will be brought exclusively before the competent courts of Malolos, Bulacan, Philippines, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Before filing any lawsuit, the parties shall attempt resolution through good-faith mediation for at least thirty (30) days.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. For material changes (including new fees, changes to refund eligibility, or expanded data sharing), we will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Continued use of the Service after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of those Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect, and the invalid provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable while preserving its intent.
